Description

Machine-Integrated Laser Warning Light – 24V

The Machine-Integrated Laser Warning Light is designed for industrial laser systems where the warning-light status will be controlled automatically by the laser, PLC, or machine control system.

Unlike a manually operated warning light, this system can receive signals from the equipment so the displayed status corresponds with the machine's operating condition.

Our standard laser warning-light configuration uses a three-level stack light suitable for communicating multiple machine or laser states.

Example Laser Status Configuration

Green — Laser Not Enabled / Safe Status
Amber — Laser Enabled / Standby
Red — Laser Operating / Hazard Status

These are suggested status descriptions only. The facility's LSO and machine integrator should determine the appropriate meaning and control logic for each indication based on the specific laser system.

Key Features

  • 24V DC operation
  • Designed for machine or PLC integration
  • Three-level visual indication
  • Red, amber and green configuration
  • Built-in audible buzzer
  • Flashing-red configuration available
  • Industrial mounting options
  • Six-foot cable with flying leads

The underlying SL60 system is designed for 24V industrial applications, includes a built-in 85 dB buzzer, and is commonly wired into machinery or PLCs. The manufacturer offers one- through five-level configurations with red, green, amber, blue, and white indicators.

Installation

This product requires electrical integration with the customer's laser, PLC, or machine control system.

Laser Safety Industries does not program or electrically integrate the customer's laser or PLC.

The warning-light manufacturer supplies the unit with flying leads for integration into the customer's controls.

When to Choose the Machine-Integrated Warning Light

Consider this option when:

  • The laser or machine provides status outputs
  • A PLC controls the laser cell
  • Warning-light operation should occur automatically
  • The application is part of an automated manufacturing system
  • The facility wants the visual indication tied directly to equipment status

This arrangement also more closely follows the ANSI Z136.9 recommendation discussed in our guide that a visible warning device should be electrically interfaced and controlled by the laser system.

Need a Different Configuration?

LSI offers a standardized three-level configuration for laser applications.

The manufacturer also offers additional light levels, colors, mounting arrangements, pole lengths, audible-alarm settings, and other configurations. Their current SL60 platform supports one to five light levels and pedestal, swivel, and bracket mounting options.

Laser Safety Note

A warning light is one component of an overall laser safety program. Selection and implementation should be based on the laser application, controlled-area configuration, entryway controls, and evaluation by the facility's Laser Safety Officer (LSO).

The addition of a warning light alone should not be interpreted as making a laser installation ANSI compliant.
