Frequently Asked Window Questions

View our Laser Safety Windows FAQ for information related to window materials, installation options, and product specifications.

View our UV & Excimer Laser Safety FAQ for information related to 190–420nm wavelengths.

The 407 acrylic laser safety window provides OD 5+ protection from 190 to 375 nm and 10,000 to 11,000 nm, suitable for use with Excimer and CO₂ laser systems requiring enclosure protection.

As the darkest tinted sheet in this series, the 407 offers the lowest visible light transmission among the 405–407 window line. It is often selected when the appearance of stronger protection is preferred for procedural or perceptual reasons. Despite its appearance, it offers the same OD 5+ protection as the other options in this range.

Note: Laser safety windows are designed for use in enclosed environments to help contain laser radiation. They are not a substitute for laser safety eyewear, which should be worn at all times when lasers are in use.

This window is suitable for use in industrial, manufacturing, medical, education, and research environments. It can be custom cut, molded, and drilled to your CAD specifications for seamless integration into machine enclosures or viewing panels.

Each window is labeled with its optical density and wavelength protection range to ensure compliance and traceability.

The 407 sheet shares the same specifications as our 405 and 406 sheets. All three options provide OD 5+ protection for both UV and CO₂ laser wavelengths and are equally appropriate for similar Class 4 laser containment applications.

Optical density and wavelength selection should be verified by your Laser Safety Officer (LSO) per ANSI Z136.

LSOs (Laser Safety Officer) need to consider working environments, viewing conditions and beam delivery systems when making assessments and determining the correct laser glasses , goggles, barriers, or windows to protect against potentially hazardous laser radiation. Do not operate lasers without correct protective equipment and training.  All laser safety glasses and goggles are made for indirect viewing only.

Pricy but worth it

I see supposed laser safety glass on Amazon for way less. No way it is certified. It usually doesn’t even list the wave length(s) it protects against. I suspect most of it is nothing more than green lexan that offers zero protection. China doesn’t care if you go blind. Neither does Amazon for that matter. Don’t risk it. Pay the money and order a certified product from a reputable company.
